Report: Kyrie Irving's Desired Contract Revealed
Nets guard Kyrie Irving and the organization failed to come to an agreement on a long-term contract agreement, Brooklyn will likely have their second superstar packing his bags out of the borough in the past 13 months.
Irving, who's in the final year of a deal that pays him $36.9 million, has been seeking a new contract in the neighborhood of four years and $198.5 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Outside of the massive contract the Nets guard is seeking from a possible trade suitor, he is also eligible to sign a two-year, $78.6 million extension with his new team until June 30.
The Nets opted out of offering Irving a fully-guaranteed max contract last off-season. This time around, during the two sides' negotiations over a new contract in the last few weeks, the organization offered Irving a contract packed with "guarantee stipulations" according to The Atheltic. It was also reported the offered deal was "not well received."
Irving's trade request comes nearly one year after Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden requested out of Brooklyn. Like the current star trade request Brooklyn is dealing with, Kevin Durant was also injured at the time of Harden's request.
In his latest report on Irving, Wojnarowski stated that the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Phoenix Suns are teams that have engaged interest in acquiring the disgruntled guard via trade.
Shortly before Irving's trade request was reported by multiple outlets, the guard tweeted out his thoughts that correlate to a trade request.
The Nets are currently 4-7 without Durant, who is sidelined with an MCL sprain. Head coach Jacque Vaughn disclosed that the team is expecting a rehab report on Monday, which indicates Durant is nearing a return.
