Updated Injury Report: Phoenix Suns vs. Brooklyn Nets
The Nets will have to wait for one more game for their new reinforcements to take the hardwood. On the other side, Brooklyn will have one of their stars returning on Tuesday night.
The team has ruled newly acquired players Spencer Dinwiddie (coach's decision) and Dorian Finney-Smith (coach's decision) out for the second game of this back-to-back against the Suns. Although both players will not suit up, they are expected to be on the bench for the matchup.
Brooklyn will have Ben Simmons returning against Phoenix. Simmons has missed the last five games with left knee soreness. During a virtual media availability on Friday, head coach Jacque Vaughn disclosed that his point forward would not return until the soreness and swelling were gone.
Before the Nets' defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, Vaughn said Simmons could've played but since the team was on a back-to-back, Brooklyn wanted to save him for the second contest.
The Nets will also give veteran wing TJ Warren some run on Tuesday night. After logging 12 minutes in Monday's loss, it's expected that he will be on 'minute watch.'
"He’s not on minute restrictions. He’ll be on minute watch and I’ll be watching how he moves, how he defends, how he runs the floor, how he breathes," Vaughn said during Monday's pregame. "He’s on minute watch and then we’ll assess him after the game to see if he can hoop tomorrow."
Brooklyn has ruled Seth Curry (left adductor strain), Yuta Watanabe (back soreness), and Kevin Durant (right knee, MCL sprain) out vs. the Suns.
For Phoenix, the team has listed Devin Booker (left groin strain) as probable vs. the Nets. The Suns will be without Cameron Payne (right foot sprain), Landry Shamet (right foot soreness), and Jae Crowder (not with team). Guard Josh Okogie (nasal fracture) is available for the Tuesday night contest at Barclays Center.
