In what was an exciting Eastern Conference showdown, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young sent the Brooklyn Nets home with a loss on a game-winning buzzer beater. Young finished the game with 34 points, but none were bigger than that final bucket.

It has been a rollercoaster season for the Hawks, but they have seemingly found some new life after making a head coaching change. Moments like these can often solidify a change in trajectory for a struggling group, and Atlanta will certainly hope that is the case as it pertains to this season. Coming into this game in the middle of the play-in picture, the Hawks are holding out hope that they can catch the six-seed and clinch a playoff spot.

Even if Atlanta were to end the season in the play-in tournament, they have to like their chances against some of the other teams that also project to land in that group. If they can gather some positive momentum after this big time win over the Brooklyn Nets, they have the talent to compete with a lot of Eastern Conference opponents towards the bottom of the playoff picture.

For the Nets, this was a devastating loss, as they fought hard all game to give themselves a chance to win. Having undergone major changes at the trade deadline, this Nets group still hopes to make the playoffs, but they have to find ways to win games like these.
