As soon as he joined the Nets in February 2023 in the trade for Kevin Durant, Mikal Bridges has become the organization's best player.

No longer just an elite defender, Mikal has evolved into a top-tier scorer, seamlessly handling the substantial pressure of filling KD's shoes in the Brooklyn lineup. Emerging not only as the team's best player but also as a leader, Bridges embraces the challenges and responsibilities, turning a challenging year into a testament to his growth and adaptability.

"Only one team wins, you know what I'm saying? So, does that mean the other 29 are losers? The world makes it seem like if you don't win, you're not good, which is very toxic," Bridges said to GQ. "I'll get frustrated for sure, especially if someone's not doing the right things. I get frustrated if we're bullsh***ing out there because I know what it takes to win. You don't know unless you're in it. I've definitely been blessed."

Mikal knows the weight of being a star in Brooklyn

As a team in a New York borough, the Nets are one of the biggest markets in the league. Being the star of a team like this can be tough for some players because they have to deal with constant pressure. That is not an issue so far for Mikal because he has been "chilling."

He does not mind the mounting pressure because, at the end of the day, he just knows it's basketball. As long as he plays well and represents Brooklyn, he will be loved by the fans.

"I understand embracing the culture wherever you're at, especially in New York. They'll love you. If you play well, play hard, and care, they'll love you," he said.

Mikal has a bright future with the Nets

It has not even been a year since he joined the organization, but Bridges looks like a long-term option for the team. He is not only a star-level talent but also a phenomenal piece of their culture. Mikal has proven to be someone everyone loves, which is quite valuable for an NBA team.

With such a significant influence on both the organization and the game, Coach Jacque Vaughn expresses satisfaction in having a star like 'Kal. The 6'6" wing, known for his enjoyment off the court, consistently unleashes his killer instinct whenever he steps onto the hardwood. Nets fans can undoubtedly look forward to enjoying his performances at Barclays Center for the foreseeable future.

And the ability to do so for his favorite team, the Brooklyn Nets, is quite special in itself.
