Cam Johnson reunites with his beloved dog in Phoenix
Cameron Johnson moved to the East Coast to Brooklyn after being traded alongside Mikal Bridges from the Phoenix Suns to the Nets. This meant Cam had to pack up his stuff and head east because that's where his career took him. It also meant saying goodbye to many things in Phoenix, including his family and his beloved dog, Halo.
When Cam returned to Phoenix for the first time since the trade for Kevin Durant, he went home to reunite with his loved ones. Seeing her owner return after an extended absence since Cam moved and played for Team USA during the summer, the dog couldn't contain her joy.
"I went home. My little brother still goes to high school here… My mom, my dad, and my dog is out here right now," Cam said in his shootaround interview. "She was sprinting out the door and was wheezing, she was rolling and jumping off the couch when she saw me, she was excited. And she threw up shortly thereafter."
Johnson loved playing in Phoenix
Johnson loved playing in Phoenix and has nothing but praise for the setting. He genuinely loved the city, the Suns organization, and the fans who passionately cheered for him.
During this game, he felt deeply honored as the fans at Footprint Center showered him and Mikal Bridges with a heartfelt round of applause.
Now that he's in Brooklyn, he still finds a way to show love to the Phoenix fans because they were a big reason why he's such a good player. The Arizona team faithful believed in him when he was drafted in 2019 and was deemed an older rookie by many media members at the time.
"I feel grateful to be in a spot where I could leave and be appreciative. It's a blessing when you think about it when you have people that you miss like this. To have people you grew an actual connection with that impacts you when you leave," Cam said.
Johnson is happy in Brooklyn
Despite the fantastic memories he had with his previous team, Cam is now settled in Brooklyn with a new and shiny four-year $108 million contract. He is a crucial member of coach Jacque Vaughn's system and is happy to be in Brooklyn.
When the time comes, Cam will try to bring Halo to see the wonders of the East Coast; however, it probably won't be an easy task.
