Why Nets GM Sean Marks loves having Harry Giles III on the team: "He is an easy guy to root for"
Harry Giles III continues to prove himself with the Nets even in his limited minutes. Behind the scenes, he has carved out a solid reputation for himself, becoming one of the most popular players in the locker room.
Giles has garnered affection not just from teammates but also from coaches and the front office, particularly earning the admiration of General Manager Sean Marks.
“When you get a guy like Harry in your environment, he is an easy guy to root for,” Marks told Andscape’s Marc J. Spears. “It’s as simple as that. The way he conducts himself. True professional. He works really hard. Diligent in his craft both on the floor and behind the scenes. He just needs to stay healthy, and that has been the biggest issue for him the whole time.”
Giles used his downtime from the NBA well
The 2022/23 season was a down year for Giles as he was not part of any professional team. This prompted him to explore opportunities beyond basketball with a focus on financial optimization.
As a result, he established Lee G Logistics LLC, a trucking company providing interstate freight services, complete with an 18-wheeler truck and a dedicated driver operating from North Carolina.
This was a good decision for Giles as he knew that money from the NBA could run out. He had more time to get involved in other projects and he made the right decision in going for trucking rather than any other extravagant business.
Amidst all of that, Giles was still working out and training as he knew that could lead him back to the NBA. He kept in contact with the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat but it was the Nets who came knocking in the 2023 offseason.
Giles can make a good impression on the Nets
Apart from his lovely personality, Giles still has untapped potential on the basketball court. Remember, he was a prospect ranked higher than Jayson Tatum back in their days in high school. Harry is only 25 years old and he has shown good energy with his hustle and a smooth stroke with his jump shot.
Recent games have shown Giles can hoop with the team, he just needs to showcase that in the important minutes rather than garbage time.
Thankfully, the team appreciates Harry for his presence, which can be enough to convince coach Jacque Vaughn to give him rotational minutes sometime soon.
