The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up a huge win over the Denver Nuggets on on Friday night to regain possession of the first seed. Minnesota is currently tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first seed, with Denver now in third place, a half-game back of first.

The Nuggets eliminated the Timberwolves in last year's opening round of the Western Conference playoffs, and when asked what his team has established about this matchup since that series, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards had high praise for Denver and Nikola Jokic.

"They're a great team," Edwards said of the Nuggets. "They didn't have Jamal [Murray] tonight. I'm mad about that, but I feel like we match up good against them. They're a great team. I have fun every time I play them. It's not gonna be an easy game. They're never gonna give up, and they got the best player in the world."

When asked if he would rather beat the Nuggets with Murray in the lineup, Edwards said, "Hell yeah."

While this was not a fully-healthy battle, it was still a big win for Minnesota, who momentarily jumps Denver in the standings to regain hold of the first seed. This battle for the top spot in the Western Conference has been a good one all year, and is going down to the wire.
