The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets are set to face off in a battle for the first seed on Wednesday night. Having kept pace with eachother all year, these two teams enter this game with identical records. The winner of this game will have the inside track to finishing first in the Western Conference, which makes it a big one for both teams.

When asked about the significance of this game, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards said, "I think everyone know what is at stake, I don’t even need to talk about how big it is, everybody know."

Minnesota has been one of the bigger surprises in the NBA this season. While they certainly projected to be a good team, the best team in the Western Conference is not who most people had them being prior to the season, but they have been solid all year.

The first seed is important for a lot of reasons, but perhaps none bigger than securing home court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs. The Nuggets have arguably the best home court advantage in basketball, which is why this would help them quite a bit in their quest to repeat as champions.

For a young team like the Timberwolves, home court advantage throughout the West playoffs would also be huge for them and their passionate fanbase.
