Not long after it was announced that Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic would not be playing in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, it was announced that his teammate Jamal Murray may also be in question for the summer action. In a Tweet on Tuesday evening, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports revealed comments from Canada's GM Rowan Barret that stated the following:

"He's coming in after a very, very long season, coming off of an injury and he's here. But I think at the same time we need to be smart with him. He's coming in very tired so we've gotta really watch him and work with our therapy team and make the right decision for him medically. But he looks good so far. It's tough. You've almost gotta save him from himself. He doesn't stop. One of the years he was practicing one hour before practice and one hour after practice by himself. You're having two practices a day so you take the shoes away after practice and he gets off the court and then I see him on the other side shooting in bare feet. So it's gonna be tough managing him but in the end we're going to make the right decision for him. Obviously he wants to play, he wants to be here, we want him here."

Lewenberg added that it felt like Murray's status was in doubt following these comments from Barrett, but Team Canada will continue to monitor the Nuggets star and make the decision that is best for him.
