Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is widely considered the best player in basketball. One of the biggest reasons why Jokic is the consensus best player in the world, is because there is truly no answer to what he can do offensively.

While different stars have different weaknesses that opposing defenses will try to exploit, there is truly nothing Jokic cannot do offensively, which makes him an impossible cover. Showing this once again on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics, Jokic had his way with the best team in basketball, finishing with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Speaking on Jokic after the game, Celtics star Jaylen Brown said he wishes he could have guarded him a bit in this game, and feels he could have done a solid job of keeping him further away from the basket.

This statement has been very controversial online, because while Brown is certainly strong, he is giving up a lot of size to Jokic, which would make it a tough matchup. That said, it is understandable what Brown is trying to say, as his goal defensively against Jokic would be to keep him as far away from the basket as possible.

This defensive strategy of putting a stronger, but smaller forward on Jokic has been deployed by other teams at times, but as previously mentioned, there is truly no answer to what Jokic can do offensively. While different coverages can work on a possession to possession basis, no team has been able to figure out a consistently effective defensive strategy against the reigning Finals MVP.
