BREAKING: Nikola Jokic Gets Fined by NBA /

The NBA has been cracking down on flopping this season, handing out fines and technical fouls for violations. In an official announcement on Sunday afternoon, the league announced that Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic had been fined $2,000 for a flop in Saturday night's loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Jokic's flop occurred with 3:37 left in the fourth quarter, and it actually happened on a play his defender was whistled for a foul. While Jokic flopping does not automatically mean he was not fouled on the play, the NBA believes his fall to the ground was unnecessary, and has fined him for it.

NBA officials have a tough job, and it's made even harder by all the flopping that goes on. This is one of the reasons why the league is cracking down on violations, since they want to protect the integrity of the game as much as possible. While some players would argue that flopping is merely gamesmanship, and part of the game, the league does not like players trying to trick officials into making incorrect calls.

Unlike their last two minute report, the NBA does not go into detail on these flopping violations, but they do provide a video of the play to go with the announcement that a player has been fined. For Jokic's flop, that video can be found here.
