Drafted 41st overall, Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic was not expected to become this great. Now a two-time MVP, NBA Champion, and Finals MVP, Jokic has solidified himself as one of the all-timer greats, but it wasn't always this way. To best understand the difference between his status now and how he was viewed as a rookie, look no further than this broadcaster's reaction to Jokic's first NBA bucket:

While there have been some bad Jokic takes resurfacing after his historic playoff run, this is obviously different. Nobody knew he would become this great after he was selected 41st overall, and averaged just 10 PPG his rookie season. It did not sound like the broadcaster was being intentionally dismissive of Jokic, but rather acknowledging that even the rookie second-round pick was getting buckets in that game.

As previously mentioned, there have been some awful Jokic takes that have resurfaced after his playoff run, several of which came after the Nuggets star was named a two-time league MVP. These takes are far less defensible than this broadcaster's reaction to Jokic's first bucket.

Uncovered by SportsCenter on Instagram, this clip does help show how far Jokic has come from his early days in the league. Surpassing countless players who were supposed to be much better than him, Jokic has proven that not everybody's path to stardom is the same.
