Bruce Brown to Meet With Western Conference Rival
It was reported by ESPN's Tim MacMahon that Denver Nuggets free agent Bruce Brown will take a meeting with the Dallas Mavericks once free agency opens. In a Tweet on Thursday, MacMahon reported, "Bruce Brown intends to meet with the Mavs soon after the opening of free agency. Brown is expected to have several suitors and has not ruled out a return to Denver despite the financial constraints. His market is $12.4M midlevel but Nuggets are limited to $7.8M."
As MacMahon noted, Brown should have several suitors in free agency, with the Los Angeles Lakers being another team that expects to heavily pursue him. Teams that can gain access to the full mid-level exception are the likeliest to pursue Brown, but as MacMahon added in an additional Tweet, teams with additional cap space may be interested in offering him even more than what teams with the MLE could offer.
The Mavericks would be a great fit for Brown, as they would be able to feature him in a prominent role. Dallas could also really use a player like Brown, as their roster really lacked winning players like him last season. Having proved the ability to be a real championship piece, Brown alongside Luka Doncic - and potentially Kyrie Irving, would be great for the Mavericks.
The Brown situation will certainly be one to follow.
