Denver Nuggets Player Suffers Scary Injury

Denver Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar suffered an injury on Friday

Playing for Slovenia this summer, Denver Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar appeared to suffer a scary injury during Friday's game vs. Greece. Throwing down a dunk in transition and the immediately grabbing his left knee, Cancar exited the game and did not return.

Updates on Cancar have been limited, but it was reported by Antonis Stroggylakis of Eurohoops.net that Slovenia big man Jordan Morgan said Cancar's test were positive from what he understood. 

"The only thing that can tell us is the MRI. From what I understood, the initial tests were positive actually," Morgan said, per Stroggylakis. "So, we'll see. We are all just hopeful because he's a very important piece for this team."

Not only is Cancar important for Slovenia, but he projects to get an increased opportunity for the Nuggets next season as well. With the departure of Jeff Green, Cancar could see increased minutes for the defending champions. Appearing in 60 games for Denver last season, Cancar played just 14.8 minutes per contest, but often showed the ability to be a serviceable rotation player in those minutes.

As Cancar's teammate Morgan noted, everyone is trying to remain hopeful right now. There is no official word on the severity of the injury, but the initial video was scary to watch, so the hope from everyone right now is that it's not as bad as it first looked.
