While it is usually Nikola Jokic making NBA history for the Denver Nuggets, it was Michael Porter Jr. who put his name in the record books on Saturday night. Finishing with 25 points on 100% shooting in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Porter became the first player in NBA history to shoot 100% from the field on at least 10 field goal attempts and 5 three point attempts in a game.

Having a weapon like Porter truly takes the Nuggets to another level. Jokic and his co-star Jamal Murray are already impossible to stop, but players like Porter, Aaron Gordon, and others make Denver that much more difficult to contain.

A star in his own way, Porter might not put up the production that other stars do, but he is exactly who the Nuggets need him to be in his role. Paid like a star, Porter is on a 5 year / $179,299,750 deal with Denver, and nights like this are the reason why.

With the attention that Jokic gets offensively, and the way he is able to make plays, having shooters like Porter is crucial for the Nuggets. Not missing a shot vs. the Lakers on Saturday night, Porter made history.

This was a big win for the Nuggets, spoiling the celebration of Lakers star LeBron James reaching 40,000 career points.
