The Denver Nuggets almost had a very scary situation on their hands during practice on Wednesday. According to a report from Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports, Michael Porter Jr. sprained his ankle during practice and his ankle swelled up shortly after. As a result, Porter Jr. left the gym with a walking boot on his left foot. It's worth noting that it was reported as nothing too concerning.

While it's incredibly unfortunate that Michael Porter Jr. suffered an injury, the Denver Nuggets are incredibly fortunate that it wasn't something far more serious. Even if Michael Porter Jr. misses the majority of training camp, the most important thing for the Nuggets is that he's available once the season starts. Denver will need the same stroke of luck with health this season as they had last season if they're hoping to get a top-two seed again.

Last season, averaged 17.4 points, and 5.5 rebounds on 49/41/80 shooting throughout the regular season. In all likelihood, the Nuggets won't need him to do much more than that with the starting lineup, but with the bench being more depleted, Michael Porter Jr. will definitely have more responsibility if he's playing with the reserves. That same statement is applied to others on the team as well though. Players like Reggie Jackson, Christian Braun, and Aaron Gordon will have an increased load this season. Hopefully, healthy will allow them to play with that increased load.
