Former 76ers Player Gets Honest About Nikola Jokic vs. Joel Embiid
If there's one player in the NBA who's experienced what Nikola Jokic is capable, of it's Montrezl Harrell. When playing for the Clippers, Harrell was tasked with guarding Jokic throughout the playoffs in a seven-game series, and that was before Jokic was a two-time MVP.
In an episode of No Chill with Gilbert Arenas, Harrell revealed the differences between guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic.
"Joker," Montrezl Harrell said about who was toughest to guard. "You can break down all three. With Greek, people playing to try and get him to shoot. If Giannis is pulling up from anywhere on the floor, we feel like we won that position. Joel, he's in that in-between stage. Even when he sets that pick and roll, it's majority of times to that short roll to where he's going to shoot the middy or get in his bag from there. As far as Joker, I ain't going to lie to you, he's doing so much you don't know what's coming. He might set a pick, catch it one hand, throw it, someone else cutting for a dunk... he back you down two times with the bump, he throw a wrap around pass to someone shooting a three, that's a tough guard."
As of today, Nikola Jokic is the toughest player to guard in the NBA. Some could argue that it's Luka Doncic, but Jokic has the size to add to it - something Montrezl Harrell now.
"He's choreographing this whole thing on the floor -from the 5 spot, bro," Harrell said. "And I ain't even talked about when he done gone ahead and put a bucket on you. Ain't nothing you doing with that 290 frame. He's worked on it now to where it's a fit frame now."
Right now, Montrezl Harrell is currently rehabbing surgery on his right knee and isn't playing on a team. Hopefully, he'll rejoin an NBA team soon after his recovery.
