Former Denver Nuggets Player Joins New Team
The Sacramento Kings have a new big man, and it's former Nuggets big man JaVale McGee.
According to a report from Shams Charania, the three-time NBA champion will be signing with the Sacramento Kings for the 2023-24 NBA season. McGee just spent last season with the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 8.5 minutes a game - he played 42 games with the team.
Throughout McGee's career, he's won three NBA championships - two with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Los Angeles Lakers. Before that, McGee was with the Denver Nuggets from 2012-2015, his longest-tenured team. Even though Javale McGee may not receive much playing time with the Sacramento Kings, they're a team that could very much use his veteran presence. He'll be one of the few players on the team that has actual championship experience and could help during a situation like Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors in the first round.
When Javale McGee started his career with the Washington Wizards, it seemed like very little was expected of him. He matured into a much more defined basketball player on the Denver Nuggets, and since then, has been on a plethora of championship teams. If there's one player who has carved himself a career in the NBA through the perfect understanding of a role, it's Javale McGee.
