Former NBA Star Reveals Hilarious Story About Facing Nuggets
The Minnesota Timberwolves snapped a 14-year playoff drought in 2018 with an overtime win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 82 of that season. Both teams entered that game 46-35, needing a win to make the playoffs. It was an incredible game that was decided in overtime, and former Timberwolves guard Jeff Teague recently shared a hilarious story about his thought process during that game:
Teague talked about the defensive assignments he had to take on in that game, with Denver having guards like Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Will Barton. According to Teague, he wasn't well-liked by Timberwolves fans, so he didn't want to be the one who messed up that game for them. Scared to take a floater in the final minutes of the game, Teague threw the shot up, and it went in.
Teague's version of this story is absolutely hilarious, because while fans remember how intense that game was, nobody knew what was going on inside of Teague's head. Worried about messing up Minnesota's first chance at the playoffs in over a decade, Teague just wanted to make as few mistakes as possible.
It all worked out for the Timberwolves, as they survived a monster performance from Nikola Jokic, and made the playoffs. While they lost in the first round to the Houston Rockets, the Timberwolves gave their fans a taste of the postseason.
