Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic is the consensus best player in the world right now, but that may not be a strong enough claim to describe his greatness. During a recent episode of his Off Guard Podcast, former Nuggets guard Austin Rivers shared a bold statement about just how good Jokic is right now.

"I know Joel Embiid won the MVP last year, but we all know Jokic probably should have won last year as well," Rivers said.

Going back in history and explaining how voters feel the need to switch up their MVP vote from year to year, Rivers believes Jokic should have won last season, but it was given to someone else in the same way both LeBron James and Michael Jordan lost MVP awards in years they were deserving.

"It is a big gap," Rivers said about the gap between Jokic and the next best player in the NBA. "Who the f-ck else is [leading the NBA in points, rebounds, and assists]? Team just won the championship, team is still top-seed or one of them, they haven't even had Jamal [Murray] most of the games... Jokic is the most dominant player in the NBA, and there is a gap."

On how big this gap is, Rivers said it's the biggest the NBA has seen since prime LeBron James, which shows just how dominant Jokic is right now.
