Former Teammate Reveals Hilarious Nikola Jokic Story
While Nikola Jokic is not very vocal in the media, the 2023 Finals MVP has a sense of humor that all of his teammates can account for. During a recent podcast episode, former Sixth Man of the Year and NBA Champion Mike Miller revealed a hilarious Jokic story from shortly after he won Finals MVP.
"I wake up to a text at 3:30 in the morning from Joker… 'Hey brother, you ever won MVP? Or Finals MVP?' I said, 'No, I haven't.' He said, 'You kinda sucked, didn't you?"
Miller said he used to give Jokic a hard time for not having a championship, which is why the big man was so ready to hit him up after the Finals. Teammates with Jokic on the Nuggets from 2015-17, Miller was at the end of his career during those two seasons, but he was a very good player at his peak.
Winning Rookie of the Year in 2001, and Sixth Man of the Year in 2006, Miller is also a two-time NBA Champion. A key piece to the Miami Heat teams that won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013, Miller was a sniper off the bench who was able to space the floor and knock down threes.
While Miller had some of his best NBA moments off the bench, he was also a high-level starter for the Memphis Grizzlies in his prime, averaging 18.5 PPG in 2007. He certainly wasn't Jokic, but Miller was a solid NBA player.
