Heat Star Reveals Reason for NBA Finals Loss to Nuggets
The Miami Heat had a Cinderella story road to the NBA Finals. They were a play-in tournament team that managed to defeat a goliath Milwaukee Bucks team in 5 games, and defeat a heavily favorited Boston Celtics team en route to the NBA Finals. Once they reached the Nuggets, everything fell short, but Bam Adebayo has a reason why.
Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo spoke with Leonard of Solms of ESPN where he opened up about the NBA Finals loss to the Denver Nuggets.
"I feel like we just came up short because we had [among the most] injuries in the 2022-23 season," Abdebayo said about the 4-1 loss to the Nuggets. [Through] all those ups and downs throughout the season... I feel like fatigue had a toll."
While there's definitely some truth in what Adebayo is saying, the Miami Heat were an incredibly injured team throughout the NBA Playoffs. Time after time, they found ways to defeat teams better than them while being shorthanded. When it comes to the Denver Nuggets though, they were just a better team than the Miami Heat and a horrible matchup for the Heat. Some of the games may have ended close but were largely blowouts throughout the duration of it.
That being said, the Miami Heat were a special type of team that was hard to quantify. There was no true way to analyze the Heat because they were a team that had no business being in the NBA Finals but found a way there. Unfortunately for Miami though, their NBA Championship journey will be a game of "what if."
