Joel Embiid's Shocking Updated Injury Status vs. Denver Nuggets
In a last minute update from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, it was revealed that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been downgraded to out for Saturday’s game against the Denver Nuggets. This was a shocking report, as Embiid was previously not even listed on the injury report, which indicated he was cleared to play.
In his follow-up tweet, Wojnarowski stated, “Embiid is out with left knee soreness, source says. Sixers training staff had concerns while watching Embiid during his warm-up routine and made decision for him to sit out vs. Denver today, sources said. Sixers are without Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris.”
This is incredibly disappointing, as fans had been looking forward to the Jokic vs. Embiid rematch. Each game Embiid misses puts him closer and closer to becoming ineligible for any awards at the end of the season. Arguably the front-runner for league MVP, Embiid is certainly in jeopardy of becoming ineligible for that award.
What was supposed to be exciting rivalry week matchup has unfortunately now lost all of its intrigue. The 76ers will be without Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris, which leaves them incredibly shorthanded against the defending champion Nuggets.
For the 76ers and Embiid, the hope if of course that this injury is nothing serious, as he was ruled out very last minute after initially being listed as available.
