The Dallas Mavericks are set to face the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Friday night, and they will be getting star guard Kyrie Irving back from injury. It was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic that Irving will be making his return for this game, which will make this an even more exciting matchup between two great teams.

The Nuggets took their first loss of the season in their last contest, but the Mavericks remain unbeaten. It's still very early, but these have been the two best teams in the Western Conference to start the year, along with the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans who are also 4-1.

Irving had been missing games due to a left foot sprain, but as Charania reported, his return is expected for this big game. This is also an in-season tournament game, which will give fans their first look at what the NBA's new creation looks like. This is certainly a great game to start it off with, as the Nuggets and Mavericks have been very fun to watch so far this season.

The duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic did not work great last season, but there is optimism in Dallas that this is a pairing that can be dominant for several years. They will look to show that off on Friday vs. Denver.
