Lakers Player Reveals Honest Feelings on Nikola Jokic
During a recent appearance on Patrick Beverley's podcast, Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell shared high praise for Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic. Having faced Jokic and the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, Russell said, "Yeah, they got the best player in basketball. They got the best player in basketball on that team. No disrespect to nobody, he's the best player in the NBA right now. Not even close."
The best player in the world debate is one that persists every single year, but it's been a while since this many people were united on an answer. After his historically great postseason run, Jokic not only proved all of his doubters wrong, but he elevated himself into a tier that few players in league history have reached.
It's not uncommon for the reigning Finals MVP to wear the "best in the world" crown until dethroned; however, Jokic's postseason run exceeded even some of the more impressive title runs in recent years. Becoming the first player in NBA history to lead a postseason run in total points, rebounds, and assists, Jokic truly did it all for the Nuggets, and is much deserving of all the praise he has been receiving.
Having to deal with different narratives about his previous playoff runs, Jokic has now silenced all of that noise, and is widely considered the best player in basketball.
