NBA Admits Massive Missed Call in Nuggets vs. Kings Game
The NBA has released their Last Two Minute Report for the Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings game, and it includes a massive missed call with 13.4 seconds remaining that could have impacted the outcome of the game.
With the Nuggets down just four points, Nikola Jokic attempted a three-pointer with 13.4 seconds remaining that the NBA admits he was fouled on by Domantas Sabonis. This would have given Jokic the opportunity to cut Sacramento's lead to just one point, meaning Denver could have fouled and gotten the ball back with it being a one possession game, even if the Kings made both free throws.
In their explanation on this play, the NBA wrote, "Sabonis (SAC) does not have his right arm in a legal vertical position when arm contact occurs with Jokic (DEN) during his upward shooting motion, which impacts his jump shot attempt."
Needless to say, this was a massive miss by the officials. While there is no way to officially determine whether or not this play would have impacted the game's outcome, it certainly would have put Denver in a much better position to win the game.
It's always important to note that the Last Two Minute Report is exactly that - a report on only the last two minutes of a game. Not publishing explanations on any plays beyond that, the NBA doesn't reveal any missed calls prior to the last two minutes, but did share this crucial one with 13.4 seconds remaining.
