NBA Admits Massive Missed Call in Nuggets vs. Warriors Game
The Denver Nuggets overcame an 18-point deficit on Thursday night to defeat the Golden State Warriors on a buzzer beating three from Nikola Jokic. It was an incredible fourth quarter turnaround for Denver, and arguably an even more incredible collapse for Golden State.
The NBA has released their Last Two Minute Report for this game, and it does include one massive missed call that could have impacted the outcome of this one. With less than one minute remaining in the game, Warriors guard Chris Paul missed a three-pointer, and the rebound was secured by Denver. According to the NBA, Warriors forward Dario Saric was fouled by Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon on the rebound attempt.
"Gordon (DEN) clamps and holds Saric's (GSW) left arm and affects his ability to control the rebound," The NBA wrote, deeming the non-call incorrect.
The Warriors were not in the bonus yet, so this would not have been free throws, but they would have gotten possession back with the chance to extend their lead while using more clock. Saric was visibly upset after this non-call, yelling at the official while throwing his arms in the air on his way back up the court.
While Golden State has nobody but themselves to blame for this massive collapse, this was a significant missed call in the final minute of a game that was decided by just one possession.
