NBA Breaks Silence on Trae Young's Controversial Ejection vs. Nuggets
Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young was ejected from Monday night's game against the Denver Nuggets, and crew chief Ben Taylor spoke with Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an official pool report after the game:
Williams:
Why was that possession that Trae Young had when he was driving to the basket, why was that considered a no call or a no foul?
Taylor:
We reviewed the play and Trae Young initiates marginal contact by clamping his arm up and under the defender’s arm so there was no illegal contact by the defender.
Williams:
What were the circumstances that led to Young drawing his first technical foul?
T
aylor:
He received a warning and Young continued to direct unsportsmanlike comments and then claps at the official.
Williams:
What was the reasoning behind Quin Snyder’s technical foul?
Taylor:
Quin comes way onto the basketball floor to continue to complain about the play.
Williams:
Why was Young assessed a second technical foul?
Taylor:
For continued excessive criticism directed at the game official.
This was the extent of the NBA's pool report for this game, in which Taylor revealed that Young was warned, but continued to direct unsportsmanlike conduct towards the official, and then continued excessive criticism towards the official which resulted in the second technical foul.
The Hawks went on to lose this game, making it their fourth-straight loss.
