The Phoenix Suns continued their pursuit of star power this offseason, adding Bradley Beal in a trade with the Washington Wizards. Beal will join Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in Phoenix as that group looks to get over the hump after consecutive second round exits.

Most recently being eliminated by the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix will presumably have to get past them next season if they want to win it all. According to former NBA champion and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins, Phoenix is currently the favorites over Denver right now.

Perkins believes the likely departure of Bruce Brown will hurt Denver a lot next season. When combined with the Suns adding Beal, Perkins believes this is enough for Phoenix to overtake Denver as favorites. Perkins acknowledged that Nikola Jokic is still the best player in the world, but he believes the Suns have Denver beat right now.

This is how many people felt about the Suns entering this past postseason. They had just acquired Kevin Durant, and many felt they were unbeatable. That was far from the case, as Denver eliminated them in six games, embarrassing them in the close-out effort.

The Suns will have to prove a lot of doubters wrong next season, but they also have a lot of believers as well. One of them is Kendrick Perkins, who is ranking them over Denver.
