NBA Champion Reacts to Dwight Howard’s Controversial Nikola Jokic Comments
Last month, Dwight Howard made news waves when he claimed that a prime Dwight Howard was better than a prime Nikola Jokic. Granted, prime Dwight Howard was an absolute menace that's become underrated, but Jokic has been on another level. Now, it looks like another player from Dwight's era is backing his claim.
Kendrick Perkins was a guest on Patrick Beverley's Pat Bev Pod where he discussed Dwight's controversial claim about Jokic.
“Dwight made a statement that he was taking a prime Dwight over Jokic," Perkins said. "And, some people in the world tried to make it seem like he was crazy! Them people wasn’t watching prime Dwight Howard. They talking about, ‘Oh! He was only averaging 20 and 10!’ Do you know back then…20 and 10 was something serious. The game was played at boxes and elbows. You might finish the game. The game might be 91-85. But man, playing against Dwight was a problem, man!”
The way Dwight Howard played basketball and the way Nikola Jokic played basketball is so completely different that it's indicative of just how different their eras were. Dwight would have a hard time guarding Jokic around the perimeter, and Jokic would have a hard time containing Dwight on the inside. Regardless, Jokic is one of the greatest offensive centers in the history of basketball and is a 2x NBA MVP for a reason.
