Until stated otherwise, the Western Conference runs through the NBA Champion Denver Nuggets. When they're fully healthy, they're nearly impossible to beat and their record shows it. However, one former NBA Champion had a surprising pick for who the Nuggets' biggest competition in the Western Conference is.

During ESPN's Christmas Day broadcast, both Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A. Smith picked the LA Clippers as the Nuggets' biggest threat in the Western Competition. It's a surprising one given the level of domination that Denver has shown LA for the past three seasons. Prior to the Clippers beating Denver on December 6, the Nuggets had beaten the Clippers for eight straight games. It was very clear that the Nuggets were the Clippers' worst matchup.

One team that would honestly make more sense would be the Minnesota Timberwolves. They're the first seed in the Western Conference and took the Nuggets to five games with a lesser team last season. Now that Minnesota is miles better than they were last season, they're definitely a much more difficult matchup for Denver than the Clippers are. Still, any team with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden all on it is one that can't be slept on in any capacity.

In terms of matchups, there shouldn't be one that the Nuggets are worried about. They have the best player in the world, and the best team in the world.
