During a recent ESPN segment, former Denver Nuggets guard Austin Rivers spoke on the possibility of Bronny James playing with LeBron James, saying, "I hope it doesn’t happen. I don't want to see Bronny play with his dad, I really don’t. I went through something similar… What happens is a lot of people start to discredit everything you’ve done."

Rivers added, "Him going and playing with his dad, at this point in his career, just because Bronny's success is not at a top-tier level, him getting drafted and playing with his dad, I don't want that negativity to come his way. Because he doesn't deserve it. I hope that he’s able to play somewhere where he can niche out his own identity."

NBA champion Stephen Jackson responded to these comments by slamming Rivers, saying in an Instagram comment, "And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up."

Jackson also spoke exclusively with Wenzell Ortiz of Sideline Sources, saying, “Difference is you trash, Bronny not. You can’t compare to him scrub."

Jackson seems to have missed Rivers' entire point, because his comment actually affirms what the former Nuggets guard was saying. If Rivers had to deal with critics saying he is only in the league because of his father, then it seems reasonable to assume that Bronny James would have to deal with that to an even greater extent if he were on the same team as LeBron James.

This is especially true when considering how good Rivers was coming out of high school and college.
