After the Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets, LeBron James suggested he may contemplate retirement this summer. According to one NBA executive who spoke with Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, James will be back next season, and this is just him controlling the narrative after being swept.

"He'll suit up next year," one Western Conference executive told Bleacher Report. "He just changed the conversation. Now we're not talking about a sweep; we're talking about LeBron and retirement. He loves to control the narrative."

Whether or not this was an intentional play from James, it was somewhat effective in limiting the discussion surrounding the sweep, as most NBA talk shows and media outlets are occupying their time with segments and articles about James potentially retiring.

It feels unlikely that James would leave the NBA in this fashion; however, it is understandable why he currently feels uncertain about his basketball future. Having just completed his 20th season, James has accomplished everything there is to accomplish in the NBA, and may feel as if it's finally time to step away. According to the superstar forward, it's something he has to think about.

While the Nuggets may not be getting the same amount of coverage that most conference champions get, this team has grown used to that, and remains focused on winning it all this season.
