Carmelo Anthony may have spent the majority of his career with the Denver Nuggets, but he's considered a legend for both Nuggets and Knicks fans. With that type of status, comes having a valued opinion.

On the newest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn, Carmelo Anthony was asked about whether the Knicks could make the Eastern Conference Finals and he gave a surprisingly optimistic answer.

“I think they can," Anthony said. "Not many teams [are] structured that way, like, to stop you first…They are created and built to stop the other team, like defense first. The only thing that comes down to that is no matter how great your defense is, offense always outweigh[s]...The game is about a bucket, so you could play all the defense that you want in the world…You got to score to win the game…Defense is just to control the game and possessions, you know what I mean? Like let's win every possession, you know what I mean? So you got to lock down, you got to lock in, you got to focus. It’s more team defense in the postseason.”

The Knicks may have the potential to get to the Eastern Conference Finals, but it would be an incredibly uphill battle for New York. The top three teams in the east are the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers. For the Knicks to get to the Conference Finals means they'll have to upset one of those three teams, and that doesn't include if the Miami Heat somehow do it again themselves.

Still, it's not impossible for the Knicks to find a way to the Conference Finals. If Carmelo Anthony believes in them, then they certainly believe in themselves, too.
