Several Los Angeles Lakers players made it clear on media day that they heard some of the Denver Nuggets' trash talk following the Western Conference Finals. This included the "Lakers' daddy" comment that was made at the championship parade, which has now become somewhat of a rallying cry for Nuggets fans, as they chanted, "Who's your daddy?" in the final moments of their opening night victory over the Lakers.

While the Lakers understandably don't appreciate that, the Nuggets being referred to as their "daddy" is something that may be starting to catch on. During a recent appearance on FS1's Undisputed, NBA legend Paul Pierce said the Nuggets "showed the Lakers who their daddy was" on opening night:

The Nuggets have simply dominated the Lakers going back to the Western Conference Finals. While those games were closer than the 4-0 sweep would suggest, the Nuggets were far superior in the closing minutes of those wins, just like they were on opening night. The Lakers have kept some of these games close, but the Nuggets have been much sharper when it matters most, which seems to be the biggest difference between these two teams.

It is a long season, and the Lakers could certainly improve between now and the postseason, but there does seem to be a significant gap between them and the defending champions.
