Nikola Jokic Gives the Most Hilarious Advice to Chet Holmgren
The Denver Nuggets absolutely clobbered the Oklahoma City Thunder in a game that will most definitely be a learning experience for its young future star Chet Holmgren. His matchup against Jokic was one NBA fans were excited for, but Jokic dominated the match.
After the game, Jokic had some words of advice for Holmgren, but it was quite possibly the most unexpected advice one would expect. The one thing he wanted Holmgren to do? Get fatter.
“He’s a really talented guy, but this is his first year," Jokic said to Bennett Durando of the Denver Post. "He’s still learning everything: the game, how quick it is, where is (he at) an advantage, where is (he at) a disadvantage. I think he needs experience. I think he needs to be a little bit fatter, to be honest. But yes, he has a talent that is unique.”
Chet Holmgren put up 19 points and 4 rebounds on 58/25/100 shooting against Jokic, which are very respectable numbers. However, Jokic put up 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists on 75/50/100 shooting. The most important stat: Jokic is 284 pounds at 6'11" and Holmgren is 207 pounds at 7'1". Regardless of weight, what the two-time MVP did was incredibly astounding and was a big reason why the Denver Nuggets won by 33 points.
The next time these two teams face off is on December 16. Hopefully, by that time, Chet Holmgren will have gotten as fat as Jokic wanted him to be.
