Nikola Jokic Makes NBA History in Pacers vs. Nuggets
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was dominant on Tuesday night against the Indiana Pacers, finishing with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists on 68.4% from the field. This was the 12th time in Jokic's career he has recorded a 30-point triple double on at least 65% shooting, tying NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain for the most such games in NBA history, per Basketball Reference's StatHead.
Jokic appears on a lot of lists that are just him and Chamberlain, and this is now another. It has been another MVP-caliber season for Jokic this year, as his numbers have been through the roof. The Nuggets have again been one of the best teams in basketball, which strengthens Jokic's MVP case. While Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is the MVP favorite most places, Jokic is certainly making it a race.
This was a big win for the Nuggets who came into the day just a half game back of first place in the Western Conference. Denver certainly expects to regain their spot atop the conference by the time the season ends, and big wins like this are how they can do it. While Indiana is of course an Eastern Conference opponent, they are still one of the tougher teams in the league, especially having just acquired Pascal Siakam.
This was a big win for Denver, behind another historic performance from Jokic.
