Nikola Jokic Makes NBA History vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Putting up historic lines on a nightly basis, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic posted another one on Friday night in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Finishing with 27 points, 22 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal, Jokic became the first player in NBA history to record that line or better in a game, per Basketball Reference's StatHead.
It must be mentioned that Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor are the only other players in league history with at least 27 points, 22 rebounds, and 12 assists in a single game, but blocks and steals were not recorded at the time of those games, so they do not appear on this list.
While Baylor only recorded one game with at least 27 points, 22 rebounds, and 12 assists, Chamberlain did it 12 times, so it's almost certain that he had at least one instance with two blocks and a steal to go along with that line. It's also very possible that Baylor also did the same.
All of that being said, Jokic is at worst the third player in NBA history with his line or better, and the only one since the NBA began recording blocks and steals. It was yet another historic performance for the reigning Finals MVP, who continues to reach new heights as his team looks to defend their title.
