Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was a late scratch vs. the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, spoiling what was a highly anticipated matchup between he and Nikola Jokic. The two superstar centers shared an embrace after the game, and when asked what he told Embiid, Jokic said, "I just asked him how he is."

Checking on Embiid to see how he is doing, especially while dealing with a knee issue, Jokic first asked the 76ers star how he is, but then shared a more detailed message during his interview.

"If you're a basketball fan or a soccer fan or NFL fan, the things that he's doing right now, it's historic, and we need to appreciate that," Jokic said. "Whether you're a Denver fan or whatever fan, I think you need to appreciate what he is doing."

Jokic reiterated this again during his postgame media availability, saying that fans should appreciate what Embiid is doing right now. While this is how Jokic feels about Embiid, he also did not want too much of the focus to be on the 76ers star, since backup center Paul Reed did such a good job filling in. Wanting Reed to get the credit he deserves, Jokic spoke on that as well after the game.

This was a good game despite Philadelphia being shorthanded, and Denver came away with the win.
