During an appearance on Michael Porter Jr.'s Curious Mike podcast, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic shared the sad reality of being famous.

"It just feels sad," Jokic said. "Whenever you go to the bar, restaurant, some game, people are just taking their phones out and trying to record you. I think that’s really - I’m going to say, rude. It’s not that I’m out showing myself, I’m just who I am."

Jokic continued, adding, "Being famous, I think some people like it. I don't, really. When I finish my career, I really wish nobody knows me, and I really wish my kid, or kids in the future, really remember me as a dad, not as a basketball player."

On how Jokic sees his life after basketball, given his feelings on fame, the reigning Finals MVP said, "To not have a phone, that’s another big goal of mine. Just to live in the moment, be a normal person. Go drink with your buddy or go have lunch or go play with your kids or go ride horses, and nobody’s going to make a big deal of that."

While Jokic is of course appreciative of his fans and his NBA career, he does not love everything that comes with being famous. Just wanting to live a normal life, Jokic looks forward to being able to do that once basketball is over.
