Nikola Jokic Unexpectedly Added to Injury Report vs. Spurs
The Denver Nuggets have released their injury report for Sunday night's game vs. the San Antonio Spurs, and Nikola Jokic was a surprise addition with low back soreness. While Jokic was unexpectedly added to the injury report, his listing is probable, so he is expected to play.
Jokic has been an ironman for Denver since becoming a full-time starter early in his career, and has been relied upon heavily this season in the absence of Jamal Murray. While Denver always plays through Jokic even when Murray is available, they have needed even more from the reigning Finals MVP since his co-star went down.
The Nuggets have scuffled a bit of late, but still sit at 10-6 on the season, which has them just 1.5 games back of first place. The NBA season is a grind with several ups and downs, and Denver is experiencing that early in the year. Once Murray returns, it's reasonable to assume the Nuggets will find some more stability. Murray is often overlooked because of Jokic's greatness, but his impact cannot be overstated.
The Spurs are currently the worst team in the Western Conference, so this game is a great opportunity for the Nuggets to get back on track. That said, San Antonio will be playing with some desperation, looking to snap their losing streak against the defending champions. The Nuggets and Spurs will begin at 8:00 PM EST on Sunday.
