The Denver Nuggets are set to open the new NBA season against the Los Angeles Lakers, and they will have reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic available. The always durable Jokic missed some time during the preseason for rest, but will be a full-go in this highly anticipated season opener.

There has been a lot of talk about this game since the NBA announced it as the season opener. The Nuggets and Lakers of course faced off in last year's Western Conference Finals, which created some back and forth through the media both during and after that series. With Nuggets head coach Michael Malone feeling Los Angeles was getting more media coverage than the Nuggets, despite Denver's dominant run, he made it clear that it was noted by their side.

This dialogue extended into the offseason when some shots at the Lakers were taken by Denver during their championship parade, which several Lakers players responded to during media day and training camp. All of that has led up to this opening night matchup which will take place after Denver receives their championship rings.

For Jokic, he is one of the players who has not involved himself in any of this dialogue. Focused on basketball, family, and his few hobbies, the reigning Finals MVP is ready to get to work this season after a historic run.
