The Denver Nuggets are facing the OKC Thunder on Wednesday night, and superstar center Nikola Jokic has been ruled out with low back pain. This is a major blow for Denver, as this game against the Thunder could go a long ay towards deciding the top of the Western Conference standings. Denver enters this game a half-game above OKC for the second seed, and a half-game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first seed.

Not many people expected the Thunder and Timberwolves to challenge Denver atop the Western Conference as long as they have this season, but both young teams have been very impressive all year. For Denver, they have remained consistent, and are still very much in the mix for the top seed.

This game against OKC will be a tough one without Jokic, but the Nuggets still have a lot of players who are capable of stepping up and winning games. This has been on display at different points throughout the season, most notably in Los Angeles when Denver was able to hand the LA Clippers a loss without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, or Aaron Gordon.

With this being a huge standings game, expect the Nuggets to come out with a very high level of intensity, understanding they will need to battle every minute of this one to steal a win without Jokic.
