Nikola Jokic's Status vs. Toronto Raptors Revealed
The Denver Nuggets are beginning a three-game road trip on Wednesday night that begins in Toronto against the Raptors. Denver has released their injury report for this game, and star center Nikola Jokic is not listed, meaning he is available to play.
Jokic's star teammate Jamal Murray is also unlisted, which is great news for Denver. Murray has been banged up a bit this season, primarily with his hamstring and ankle issues, but he seems to be good to go now.
The Nuggets enter this game just 3.5 games back of the first seed Minnesota Timberwolves, and just 0.5 games back of the second seed Oklahoma City Thunder. The Raptors are in a much different situation, currently sitting at 11-15 on the season, which has them tied for 10th in the Eastern Conference.
While they are always somewhat competitive, Toronto has been far from a true contender since Kawhi Leonard's departure. Despite their struggles this season, the Raptors are one game above .500 at home, whereas the Nuggets are one game below .500 on the road. Denver should still be able to take care of business in this game, but that is an interesting trend to keep an eye on.
While Jokic has been a bit up-and-down lately, the Nuggets are still able to win games even when he isn’t at his best. This has a lot to do with the attention he demands on offense, which will also be something to watch when it comes to how Toronto chooses to guard him.
