The Denver Nuggets announced on Wednesday morning that starting forward Aaron Gordon suffered dog bite injuries that will sideline him for an undisclosed amount of time. In their statement, the team wrote, "Aaron Gordon suffered lacerations to his face and hand resulting from a dog bite on December 25th. Aaron is in good condition and will remain away from the team while he recovers."

Shams Charania of The Athletic added via sources, “Aaron Gordon suffered serious dog bites to his face and shooting right hand on Monday -- requiring 21 stitches, sources say. It will take some time to heal, with no timetable yet."

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone addressed the media and got honest about this tough situation, saying, "Right now it's open-ended, we're not going to put any pressure on him. We need him to heal inside and out. Going through something like that is not something that you come back from easily. That's something where you have to heal from the physical, but you also have to heal from the mental and what you just kind of went through."

Malone added, "We want him back. We know we're better off with him, but I want to support Aaron Gordon and make sure, when he comes back, he's ready to come back and play at the level that we know he's capable of."
