Nuggets Make Roster Decision on Former Stanford Forward
It was announced by Keith Smith of Spotrac that the Denver Nuggets have waived former Stanford forward Bryce Wills. The team recently signed Wills to a training camp deal, but has now waived him. This is a common move for teams at this point in the schedule, as recently waived training camp players are usually headed to the G-League. Wills has played with Denver's G-League affiliate before, and will likely play there again this season.
With the preseason schedule now complete for every team, there are just a few days left of training camp before the regular season begins. Teams around the league will continue to make some of these sign and waive moves to get different players in their program, and Wills is one of the latest examples.
When the Nuggets signed Wills, the team wrote, "Wills, 6-6, 200, played in three games for the Denver Nuggets Summer League team in Las Vegas this summer, averaging 5.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 12.9 minutes per game. Wills spent three years at Stanford University where he appeared in 78 total games (64 starts) and was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team in 2020 as a junior. He spent the previous two seasons in the G League, appearing in 45 total games (11 starts) between Capital City Go-Go and Grand Rapids Gold, averaging 6.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 25.4 minutes per game."
The team has not yet officially announced the waiving of Wills.
