Nuggets Star Arrives in Taiwan For International Event
The Denver Nuggets world tour is raging on through the NBA off-season. First, Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon spent time in Serbia together. Now, Michael Porter Jr. is visiting Taiwan to take part in a baseball event.
As soon as Porter arrived, he was met by a swarm of fans where he signed autographs of baseballs, basketballs, and posters for the fans. Michael Porter Jr. went to Taiwan to throw the ceremonial first pitch during a baseball game at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium on Saturday.
The reception that Porter received at the airport from Taiwanese fans truly shows just how international the game of basketball has become. The Denver Nuggets aren't the largest market team in the NBA and Michael Porter Jr. isn't even the most popular player on the team. Despite that, Porter received the welcome of someone who is a multi-time All-Star at the airport, and that really speaks volumes to how passionate international fans are.
Michael Porter Jr.'s story is one that should be embraced by NBA fans who love the game. He went from being considered a "problem" on the Denver Nuggets and a shot-chucker, to an NBA champion that legitimately contributed to a title. His game evolved, his maturity evolved, and Porter showed that no one should be typecasted into how they're viewed as a rookie.
