Nuggets Star Gets Honest About Proving Doubters Wrong
Even once the Denver Nuggets secured the best record in the Western Conference, many remained skeptical about their ability to thrive in a playoff setting. This doubt became amplified when the Nuggets matched with the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Semi-Finals, as the duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker was touted by many as an unstoppable pairing.
Recently appearing on Undefined with Josina Anderson, Nuggets star Aaron Gordon spoke about this doubt, saying, "People had us losing to Phoenix, people had us losing to the Lakers, and then people had us losing to Miami. And listen, I'm good with that. I'm totally cool with it."
Gordon was asked if any doubt creeped into the Nuggets locker room when they lost Game 2 to the Miami Heat, and he said, "Not really. My concern was more for guys like Jeff Green, DeAndre Jordan, and Ish Smith - some of the guys that had been in the league for a minute, have been bouncing round a little bit, and never got a ring."
While the Nuggets may have been dealing with doubters, no level of doubt ever creeped in for them. For Gordon, his primary concern was making sure he did all he could to get Denver's veterans a championship, which was the most important thing for him during that postseason run.
