Nuggets Starter Reveals Injury Update Before Facing Lakers
Denver Nuggets starter Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had a hamstring injury scare in Sunday night's win over the Portland Trail Blazers, but he doesn't seem to be too worried about it. Despite heading back to the locker room, Caldwell-Pope told reporters after the game he believes the issue was more cramp related than anything else.
Nuggets head coach Michael Malone told reporters postgame that the team did not have any official update on Caldwell-Pope, but were thankful to have three days off before their next game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. This is an uncommon break in the schedule, but Denver has played a lot of games already, so they will get a much needed few days off before their next game.
For Caldwell-Pope, it sounds like he should be good to go for that game against Los Angeles, as he didn't seem too concerned postgame. Hamstrings can be tricky, so the Nuggets will certainly monitor their starting forward over the next few days, but it seems any worst case scenario has been avoided.
Behind Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets are continuing to roll, remaining in pursuit of the top spot in the Western Conference. While the West has a lot of teams battling for that top spot, Denver certainly believes they have what it takes to reclaim their place atop the Western Conference standings.
