Steve Kerr Shares Message to Nikola Jokic From Dejan Milojevic
The Golden State Warriors and the entire NBA family have been grieving the death of beloved assistant coach Dejan Milojevic, who passed away Wednesday morning after suffering a heart attack. Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was close with Milojevic, and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr wants Jokic to know that Milojevic loved him.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone shared a conversation he had with Steve Kerr, who wanted Malone to pass along a message to Jokic about the love Milojevic had for him.
"When [Milojevic] ultimately passed, [Steve Kerr] let me know that he had passed, and he wanted me to know how much [Milojevic] loved Nikola, and how proud he was of him," Malone said. "That's what I just tried to share with Nikola. I just went through this with my father. Losing somebody you care about is really hard. The most important thing for Nikola to know is [Milojevic] did love him, and now it's up to Nikola to carry on his legacy on the court, off the court, how he lives, and make sure that [Milojevic's] name is continued to be talked about."
This was a very touching message from both Kerr and Malone, who want Jokic to know that Milojevic loved him. This is a hard time for so many people, and they are all coming together to support one another.
